Chain to River: 2.0 Art Walk and Performance

Sunday, June 4, 2023

1:45 PM

Admission is free of charge and all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Join Harvester Arts in welcoming NYC-based visiting artist Aaron Asis and Smack Dab Dance Lab for this unforgettable interactive art event.

We’ll start at Chainlink Gallery Place, 121 E. Douglas. Participants should be prepared to walk approximately 1.5 miles. A golf cart will be available for anyone with mobility challenges. The event will culminate with a creative “happening” at Exploration Gallery Place at Exploration Place, 300 N. McLean Blvd.

This family-friendly art walk and performance will creatively activate underappreciated spaces in downtown Wichita and along the riverfront for the second time. Chain to River 2.0 will connect two popular Wichita art destinations: Chainlink Gallery Place and Exploration Gallery Place during a walking interactive art performance featuring live dance, music and visual art. Attendees will enjoy space to express their creativity, play and enjoy the works of many talented local artists.

Chain to River: 2.0 is the brainchild of Aaron Asis, who has been working with Harvester Arts for the past year and was selected because of his background of working with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community groups to document underappreciated phenomena and to exhibit work in unexpected places. Aaron Asis’s work is focused on sharing art experiences outside of art spaces to inspire personal thoughts, and create public opportunities where people can learn, explore, and share throughout our cities.

Chain to River 2.0 and The Gallery Place Project are made possible with support from Exploration Place, Bokeh Development, Lifeboat Creative and with support from the Knight Foundation Fund at the Wichita Foundation.
