2027 Call for Artists - Solo, Group & Individual Works Welcome
Harvester Arts is now accepting solo and group exhibition proposals and individual artworks from artists at all stages of their careers, including first-time exhibitors, to be considered for curated group exhibitions in our 2027 exhibition calendar.
Join a vibrant community of creatives and help shape a year of dynamic, thoughtful exhibitions.
The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2026. For questions, contact info@harvesterarts.org.
Harvester’s artist-led Programming Committee will select proposals for solo and group shows, and curate group exhibitions based on the individual works submitted. Whether you’re proposing a full exhibition or submitting a few pieces, this is your chance to be part of Harvester’s 2027 lineup.
Harvester Arts is a collaborative, experimental space in Wichita dedicated to inclusive, community-connected exhibitions. We especially encourage submissions from artists and curators who have been historically underrepresented in gallery spaces. All media and genres welcome.

Artist Spotlight
This week, we are spotlighting the media-bending musical artist Bahiyah. On Saturday, August 22, Wichita Forever Fest turned Harvester Arts into one of the 10 stages for their free, one-day music festival. Bahiyah, who performs live over self-produced tracks, was the second artist to play the Harvester Stage.

Celebrate the opening of Armando Minjárez Monárrez: En Cuerpo Presente with a reception and Artist Talk.
Long before the rise of advertising, branding, and social media, empires understood that power had to be seen before it could be believed. Armando Minjárez Monárrez: En Cuerpo Presente explores how images become instruments of power. Monuments, rituals, architecture, souvenirs, advertisements, and brands across history have shaped not only how we see one another, but how we come to understand ourselves. Images do not simply reflect identity; they sanction it, circulate it, and assign value to it.
Rather than treating identity as something fixed or inherited, Minjárez Monárrez thinks of it as a cultural architecture constructed through images, memory, performance, and display. His sculptures inhabit the space between monument and commodity, artifact and souvenir, humor and critique. They resist fixed definitions of identity, not by offering alternative images, but by exposing the systems that produce them. If every society builds monuments to the stories it wants people to believe, En Cuerpo Presente asks what kinds of monuments we continue to build today, and what they ask us to believe about ourselves.
WAM’s Naftzger Family Regional Creatives Exhibition Series is dedicated to exhibiting art by local artists. This program is a partnership with Harvester Arts, a local nonprofit art organization fostering opportunities for Wichita creatives. Their core values of experimentation, capacity building, and community engagement are a framework for this partnership, which includes this exhibition space and programming with local creatives, including performances, talks, and pop-up experiences.

- Madi White proposes Halloween Clown Jam, the fourth installment of a variety show celebrating clown, drag, burlesque, puppetry, circus arts, poetry, and music. The event champions original work, play, and self-expression in Wichita, building on a track record that has already introduced nearly 50 new clowns to the local scene.
- Karissa Ruth proposes Erotic Nights, an immersive celebration of sensuality, body autonomy, and artistic liberation through movement, music, and art. The project centers and uplifts BIPOC, queer, and sex-worker performers and audiences, hosting pole shows and community events that foster connection and creative freedom across Wichita.
- Brian Johnson and April Pameticky propose Rumination of Thunder, a pairing of two decades of storm photography with Tersa poetry reflecting on Midwestern life beneath dramatic skies. The work invites viewers to slow down and dwell in the quiet moments around storms, transforming weather-watching into a meditation on human experience.
Workshop: Exploring Memory with Kathy Liao

Exploring Memory with Kathy Liao is a collage-based workshop focused on connecting with personal memory. Enjoy a brief gallery tour with visiting artist, Kathy Liao, who will share insights into her work at Harvester Arts. Reconvene for a short demonstration, then create your own artwork inspired by memory. Participants are invited to bring a photo of a loved one with the intention of creating a collage inspired by their memory or presence.
As a Taiwanese American artist, Kathy Liao looks for patterns and repetitions that weave through the immigrant families’ experience in her mixed-media work. She is the recipient of various recognitions, including the 2023 Joan Mitchell Foundation Fellowship, 2022 21c KC Artadia Award, 2020 Charlotte Street Foundation Visual Artist Award, and a public art commission for the new Kansas City International Airport. As a mentor and educator, Liao has lectured and presented at multiple institutions and conferences nationwide. Her work was shown in galleries and museums in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Kansas City, and many other cities nationally and internationally. Formerly, Liao was Director of the Painting and Printmaking department at Missouri Western State University. She was nominated “Most Influential Professor” in 2019. She is currently the organizational services program officer at Mid-America Arts Alliance.
