Something new is beginning …
Smack Dab Dance Fest is a new city-wide gathering of movement, bringing together artists and dance groups from across Wichita for a shared performance experience rooted in exchange, experimentation, and community.
Featuring many styles and forms, the fest will celebrate the depth and diversity of dance already thriving in our city while creating new opportunities for connection, visibility, and artistic growth.
Alongside performances, Smack Dab Dance Fest is investing directly in local artists through the commissioning of two new works by emerging choreographers Rhiannon Vieyra and Sarah Knapp. These works will premiere at the festival and reflect a larger vision of supporting Wichita artists not only locally, but as contributors to broader regional and national dance conversations.
There will also be opportunities for the community to dance together with classes and workshops throughout the month of June.
This is more than a festival.
It is an investment in Wichita’s dance ecosystem and the future of movement in our community.
