Come hang out and create at Harvester Arts! Sketch, paint, sew, journal, write, or just mingle. Meet new people and learn about art with us.
05/31 10 AM - 2 PM | Free Admission
Harvester Arts and the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, NAMI Wichita, COMCARE of Sedgwick County and Live Connected Kansas invite artists — whether they are Veterans, service members, their families, or supporters — to join us for Hearts in Hand, a special workshop dedicated to creating art with purpose.
During this hands-on event, participants will create original artwork to be reproduced on Caring Contact notecards — brief, heartfelt messages sent to Veterans and their families after discharge from emergency or crisis care. These notes are part of a proven suicide prevention initiative that offers continued connection and care during critical moments.
All skill levels are welcome — whether you’re a practicing artist or simply want to contribute through creative expression.
Art supplies will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own materials as well.
This workshop is free and open to the public.
05/31 7 PM | $5 Suggested Donation
Yet another celebration of life for a very special saxophone player, Ben Kincaid.
Ben was a supernaturally talented jazz musician, world traveler and community advocate from Wichita, KS. When he died in June of 2022, he left behind a rich legacy of music intertwined with social practice for the good of everyone around him, down to helping provide food for our most vulnerable neighbors. That’s why this year of BenFest is the Potluck Edition: bring a thoughtful dish to bring people together.
Performing are the Josue Estrada Band, Caleb Abbott Collective, Anima, Sunblush and TANGERINE. There will also be an eco-art workshop led by Dr. Lori Santos, Art Education Director of Wichita State University as well as other interactive art installations. Harvester Arts’ donation-based drink bar will be open for patrons.
Lead by Julian Kincaid, Social Practice Artist and Community Art Teacher
05/30 6-8 PM | Free Admission
Jill Luton’s interactive installation is aimed at exploring the comforts we seek in the natural world and textiles. In blending the two together, the viewer is invited to breathe easy, take off some of the burden they carry, and land softly into a world of color and flowers.
